I
know it looks like there's just TOO many things to look at and TOO
many things blinking and flashing. RELAX!!! breathe....
We've
designed this area to help you get to the information that you're
looking for as fast as possible. We'll break down each area to show
you what kind of information is there.
First!
You'll notice that on the front page on the left side is the NavBar.
Everywhere else on the site, it goes from left to right, just under
our header.
Let's
explain how the NavBar works and then we'll break each section down
in a few minutes.
The
NavBar is color coded to divide off the different sections..
PINK
- is the Introduction Section. Here is the Welcome page and our TEST.
BLUE
- is the Instruction Section. This section covers the Overview (of
poster collecting), the Index (where the articles are), the Movies
(which is the new Database), and History (old stuff).
GREEN
-
is the Admin Section. That's where we are NOW.. you have HELP, Bulletin
Board (for messages), Poster News (for what's going on in the industry),
and SPONSORS (the people that keep us GOING)
GOLD
- is the Lagniappe Section. That's pronounced (Lan-Yap). We're in
New Orleans and down here that means........ a little extra! We're
developing a Calendar of Events, Contact for us, Cool Stuff is other
companies that have some cool movie stuff for sale.... These are also
affiliates so when you buy something through them, you're also helping
LAMP. You also have our links to other sites around the net and our
Bookstore... for books and calendars of all different types.
Now
let's look at the different areas.

Each section is laid out about a specific area but there are links
all throughout each article, so if you don't understand something,
you can change to go and learn about that and then return.

Let's
look at each section
First, the PINK
TEST
The
test is 20 questions that we've picked to let you see how much you
know about movie posters from a collectible point of view AND let
you look at some of the variations that other people present as collectibles.
Almost all the situations were taken straight from online offerings
FINISH THE TEST!! Quite a few people that start it don't finish it
because they get stumped on several technical points. Don't worry
about not knowing them. No one knows what your score is BUT YOU!!!
There is no recording of grades. We've made the TEST difficult enough
that a lot of DEALERS have trouble passing it.We designed it so YOU
could tell how easy it is for YOU to be taken.
We apologize that it's the same 20 questions that we've had on for
the past year. We want to expand it to where it's taking 20 questions
out of a 100 question base so it would be a little different each
time, but we haven't had the time to develop the program to do that
yet!! So yes you can go back and take it again until you get a good
score... We also put the section for you to study on the questions
that you miss.
The
Welcome is pretty self explanatory... it's just me rambling on with
a welcome to everyone.

Next
comes the BLUE
Let's
start with the OVERVIEW... it's an overview of poster collecting in
general and covers the ins and outs and all different phases of collecting.
OVERVIEW
The
overview is laid out in a format designed to step beginner collectors
through all the major areas that collectors need to know, from what's
collectible to how to tell approximate market value. Follow the keys
which will also cross link into the articles for more information
on a particular areas.
Next comes the
INDEX
The
INDEX is divided into 2 sections. When
you click on the index, you automatically go to the 'Alphabetical'
Index.... Only major articles are listed in this list. for
example.... You'll see a listing for National Screen Service (NSS)..
but when you open the article, it also contains several sub-articles
like: History of the NSS, NSS numbering system, NSS tags etc.
There are over 200 selections of major articles to study BUT at the
top of the page you also see that you can click over to the TOPICAL
Index. This looks at the articles from a different viewpoint and
therefore there are numerous articles there that do not show up on
the Alphabetical Index.BE SURE TO TAKE A LOOK.
Because we are always adding articles... quite often you might stumble
into an article that hasn't made it on either list yet.....
The
next section is:
MOVIES
This
has already become the largest section on site. This section is designed
like a big holding bin. We've listed the movies released in the US,
UK, Australia and Canada, which is about 90,000 movies. Then we keep
adding information about each one as we go through files and photos.
The system is an ever growing information base arranged by movie title........
The
type of information that we're gathering on each title is: genre,
odd info, aka's, Director, photos of posters from around the world,
markings, fake info etc.
The
newest feature to the Database is the addition of dealers that have
particular posters for sale, both original and reprints.
Our
concept and goal of this section is to create an information site
on posters where you can do research, learn and then connect to a
reputable dealer that has the one you're looking for.
THIS
SECTION IS WHERE THE ACTION IS!!
It
starts with our Entrance
Page. This page is between the Reference Site and the Database.
If you look... there's a lot of info on this page..
1.
You can search for a movie title.. with almost 90,000 titles listed
and over 11,000 photos of posters and growing.
2.
You can use the Power Search to look for info in a variety of directions
such as: studio, poster size, Country, etc.
3.
You can see the database stats pulled by the computer such as: number
of titles, posters pictured and for sale as well as the top 5 most
popular posters and movie titles.
4.
We have posters listed for sale... on the left by Country and size....
or on the right by Dealer.
5.
We have a section to Meet the Dealer and Suppliers so you can get
to know who you're dealing with.
Our
last instruction section is:
HISTORY
This
section continues to grow... and we see no end in sight!!
When
you start this section you have a variety of ways to go.... here's
an overview:
History
of the Movie Poster... this section follows the evolution of the movie
poster and all it's off shoots through the decades, with links and
explanations throughout.
History
of the Movie Studios.... this section follows the changes and growth
of the Producers and Studios during the development of the industry.
Early
Studios.... this section takes a look at individual studios during
the silent period. We're gathering histories, logos, photos and any
other information about the pioneers of moviedom.
Major
Studios..... this section takes a closer look at the major studios....
where they are, who owns them and who they own. Plus we're gathering
a list of all their films that were produced and creating a LOGO library
to show the changes to their logos through the years to help date
older posters.
Minor
Studios.... this section does the same thing for the smaller studios
after the 'talkies'.
Timeline.....
follow the industry from year to year, looking at the developments
as they happened.

Next
comes the GREEN
This
isn't on the NavBar... BUT this is where we explain about advertising
on the site..
