By the Numbers

for our 8th Anniversary

We have come a LONG way in the past 8 years and I wanted to stop and take a look just to see how far.... By the Numbers.

These are as of January 1, 2009:

A year ago, we had reported that we were averaging between 8-10,000 visitors (not page views or hits) PER DAY on the LAMP sites. This number included the search engine bots which are also constantly on LAMP and cause the numbers to fluctuate drastically. The average time spent on LAMP a year ago for each visitor was between 1-2 minutes. The figures this year have jumped to an average of 7-8 minutes EACH... This means a LOT more are coming for research.

During the past year, we released the Legality of US Movie Posters, the updated 2008 Edition of the US Movie Studio Production Codes and our new Learn About International Movie Posters, which is a first of its kind reference book covering poster information on 38 countries.

Size:

We state that we have over 200,000 pages on the LAMP Websites, but we don't actually know how much more. And we don't know how to check to find out. Our tracking program doesn't go up that high. I recently did a file search through our system and just under the Learn About Section there were over 400,000 files. We also believe that we have gone over 1 MILLION cross-links on the LAMP sites.

We have expanded LAMP into numerous sites. We now have 33 registered domains with 24 of them active with each expanding in different directions.

Besides being the largest Movie Poster reference site in general, we are also the largest US Movie Poster reference site (USMoviePosters.com) and the largest British movie poster reference site (BritishFilmPosters.co.uk). Also we're the largest Argentinan (ArgentinaMoviePosters.com), Australian (AustralianMoviePosters.com), Czech (CzechMoviePosters.com), Danish (DanishMoviePosters.com), Egyptian (EgyptianMoviePosters.com), French (FrenchFilmPosters.com), German (GermanFilmPosters.com), and Japanese (JapaneseFilmPosters.com). Belgium and Netherlands websites are coming online later this month!!

This past year we added a new Member Section for Advanced Research. We are making our advanced research available to members and have already added charts on Belgian Tax Stamps, British printers charts, Dutch Filmkeuring, French Printers Charts, French Visa de Censure charts, International distribution, Japanese Eiren charts, Production codes, studio logos through the years, NSS and poster exchange legal battle, and even a section on minor poster repairs. AND we're constantly adding more.

Archive:

While there are now several movie poster image sites on the internet, the sites that we found either had:

(1. poor or greatly varying quality images because they relied on collectors to put in the images,
(2.
little or NO information about the posters or (are they even movie posters???)
(3.
were archived sales records filled with massive amounts of duplicates and just basic info about that poster only.

As a reference site, we wanted something that NO ONE else had .... "posters organized by title and cross referenced to thousands of articles for explanations, research and documentation in every direction".

We knew that it would be slower to develop this but we figured that the end result would be a reliable archive that could preserve and document our hobby and the industry. It took 10 months just to develop the program to handle this massive project and we did the test for it in 2003, and turned it on in 2004.

After 4 years we have gathered 170,132 film titles in the archive and cross referenced 72,446 poster images in the archive..... which we think isn't too bad. That is larger than most image places, but there are a few image databases that have more.
BUT HERE'S THE DIFFERENCE...

WE ALSO :

1. divide posters into 25 different poster types in the archive.
2. sort film titles into 58 different genres. (and getting ready to expand that)
3. track posters from 86 countries
4. track 123 different posters sizes (and getting ready to expand it again)
5. document over 400 movie poster printers around the world and track 165 in the archive
6. track 835 film studios from around the world in the archive
7. document over 2000 poster artists and have attached 547 to lists and images of their posters in the archive.
8. document 1000s of litho plate numbers
9 . document over 7000 reissues.
10 . have over 9000 larger and high res images online
11. compiled and cross-referenced 18,000 NSS numbers
12 . tracking 28,540 directors and writers in the archive.
13. posted 72, 446 poster images online
14. have 170,132 film titles listed - not the largest but decent.
15. Each title and poster fully cross-referenced by ANY AND ALL of the categories above with 100s of articles of explanations.

AND WE HAVE THEM ALL "SORTABLE" IN OUR ADVANCED SEARCH SECTION.

GO SEE OUR SET OF VIDEO TUTORIALS ON THE DATABASE AND ARCHIVE AND YOU MIGHT BE SHOCKED HOW EASY IT IS TO USE.

YES... just go anywhere else and TRY to sort British Quads (or ANY poster size) in a certain time period, with a certain artist and printing company..... and SEE what you GET!!

LAMP is the ONLY source and we continue to get bigger and better.

Other Areas:

Though the articles and the archive are the heart of the LAMP sites, there are numerous other areas of importance.

Dealers Market - for looking up prices

Posters For Sale - LAMP has the LARGEST selection of posters for sale ANYWHERE (over 60,000) and our LAMP Dealers have a combined inventory of over 4 MILLION POSTERS.

Studio Production Codes - we have over 22,000 studio production codes online from our US Movie Studio Production Codes book - EXCEPT we are in the process of cross referencing them with the image archive and NSS numbers.

Movie Video Database - for hard to find videos - we now have over 10,000 videos, CDs and DVDs now in the MVD.

We have literally HUNDREDS of articles online.. and with the LAMP Navigator and LAMP Video Tutorials, it should become a lot easier to find whatever information you are looking for... AND WE CONTINUALLY ADD MORE.

just to name a few.
