What is the difference between THIS log and the 2008 US Movie Studio Production Code Book?
The 2008 US Movie Studio Production Code Book was the 13 major US studios ONLY. This book is arranged alphabetically by studio, with a chapter on each studio that contains a brief history of each studio and then that studios logs. In the back was an index to help you find WHICH studio had released certain numbers.
The 2009 Movie Studio Production Log is the first step towards an International Movie Studio Production Log. There are NO chapters or histories. These have been eliminated as well as the indexes. This has been replaced by a longer information line on each title and the logs divided into 2 sections: Alphabetic or Numberic. So minor studios and studios from different countries are mixed in. This way you have the greatest potential of immediate numeric or alphabetic recognition without having to go through additional steps in searching.
Does this affect the size of the book?
Yes, because of eliminating the duplication of indexes in the back and the histories on each studio, we have been able to increase the number of production codes and at the same time cut the size of the book. (by almost 1/3)
With more numbers, is the book more expensive?
No, because of the cut in indexes and histories and size of the book, it actually reduces the price of the book from $50 to $40.
This is a completely different book with a different format for a different purpose. We plan to release a new edition of this every 2 years with additional production codes added. And hopefully continue expanding this into a more comprehensive International Edition.
We will also continue to stock the US Movie Studio Production Code book on major US studios and their histories.
