History
In 1763, the land that is now Rapides Parish became the new home of Apalachee, who were settled there with the permission of Governor Kerlerec. These Native Americans had come to Mobile after fleeing the British and their Creek Indian allies from what is now from Leon County, Florida. Many of their descendants remain in Natchitoches Parish. Named for: The local river rapids.

Evangeline - United Artists. Dir: Carewe; Cast: Del Rio; Drew. Drama partially filmed at Lake Catahoula and St. Martinville.

1947

Louisiana - Dir: Karlson; Cast: Gov. Davis, Adams. Biography of Gov. Jimmie Davis with exteriors filmed in Louisiana, including Louisiana College in Pineville, Dodd College for Women, Louisiana State University, the State Capitol and the French Quarter. 

1959

Horse Soldiers, The - Dir: Ford; Cast: Wayne, Holden. Adventure western partially filmed in Alexandria, Clinton, and Natchitoches. 

1991

Man in the Moon, The - Dir: Mulligan; Cast: Waterston, Witherspoon.  Romantic drama filmed in Natchitoches, on Pratt’s Bridge over Cane River and in Kisatchie National Forest.

2000

Experiment - Dir: Bennett; Cast: Dosier, Fontenot. Short filmed in Reeves in Allen Parish and the Kisatche National Forest in Rapides.

2005

Operation Thanksgiving - Dir: Hull. Documentary following Paul Revere and the Raiders during the holiday partially filmed in Alexandria.

2007

Fight It - Dir: Dickerson; Cast: Blondin, Daze. Short sports drama filmed in Alexandria and Pineville.

2008

Agent 5: A Night of the Last Life Of - Dir: Desotell; Cast: Burnham, Wunstel. Mystery partially filmed in Alexandria.

Loss of a Teardrop Diamond - Dir: Markell; Cast: Howard, Patton. Romance drama filmed in Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Donaldsonville, Jackson, Nottoway Plantation in White Castle, Plaquemine and St. Francisville.

Trouble the Water - Dir: Deal, Lessin;  Cast: Roberts, Roberts. Documentary partially set in post-Katrina New Orleans and partially filmed in Alexandria and New Orleans.

2010

My Own Love Song - Dir: Dahan; Cast: Zellweger, Zima. Drama partially filmed in Lafourche Parish, Marksville, New Orleans, Pineville, Lacompte, Cheneyville, Bunkie and Thibodaux.

Tekken - Dir: Little; Cast: Foo, Overton. Adventure drama filmed at Camp Beauregard in Pineville and Shreveport, including the Fair Grounds Field and Hirsch Memorial Coliseum.

2011

Escapee - Dir: Murphy; Cast: Purcell, Evangelista. Horror filmed in Alexandria

2013

Day I Finally Decided to Kill Myself - Dir: Murphy; Cast: Litt, Margaret. Short drama filmed in Alexandria.

2015

All Mistakes Buried - Dir: McCann; Cast: Ferlito, Trammell; Thriller filmed in Alexandria.

2016

I'm Starving - Dir: Armstrong, Carmouche; Cast: Gaines, Armstrong. Short sports drama filmed in Alexandria at the Van Mol Store and Bringhurst Park.

2017

Battlefield: Home: Breaking the Silence - Dir: Holsapple; war documentary drama about the emotional and physical problems of a returning Vietnam Vet. Partially filmed at Rayville, Duson, Alexandria, Baton Rouge and Tulane University in New Orleans.

Class Rank - Dir: Stoltz; Cast: Chenoweth, Gisondo. Comedy romance filmed in Alexandria and Pineville.

High School Heist - Dir: Armstrong, Carmouche; Cast: Carmouche, Baker. Short comedy filmed in Alexandria.

Rent-a-Ryde - Dir: Gallegos; Cast: Eisenzopf, Whittle. Comedy TV movie filmed in Alexandria.
