BRITISH FILM POSTERS

Over the next several months, LAMP will be going through an extensive restructuring. This is due in large part to the growing international interest in the site. The content on the current sites will remain intact; however, the hierarchy will change significantly. For example, LAMP will remain dedicated to movie poster collecting in general. However, each country will have their own site covering the specifics of poster collecting in that area.

The first of our new country websites will be going on line October 1.

BritishFilmPosters.com will be dedicated to all aspects of collecting British movie paper.

NEW LAMP SMALL
DEALER PROGRAM

We learned a number of things by talking to movie poster dealers who participated in May's Cinevent. It was brought to our attention that LAMP did not have enough programs designed for the smaller dealers - those with limited inventories but who would like to participate. To meet these concerns, we have been working the last few months to redesign our sponsor and dealers programs, hoping to make them affordable for any reputable dealer who would like to become a LAMP sponsor.

One of the new programs we just introduced is the Small Dealer Program. This program allows a dealer to list a specific number of listings in the Movie Poster Data Base.

LAMP NOW BOASTS 50,000 IMAGES ON LINE

It's been a long time coming but we finally reached a milestone -- 50,000 images now in our Movie Poster Data Base. Why is this so important? Here are 3 reasons: (1) since we upload the images ourselves, we make every attempt to verify the info before it goes on; (2) unlike many poster image databases, there are no multiple images of any one poster. (For example, you will not see three or four - or quite often more - images for the same poster); and (3) each image is cross-linked into dozens of sortable reference articles and categories throughout the LAMP sites.

NSS NUMBERS NOW CONNECTED TO MOVIE POSTER DATA BASE

All of the NSS numbers that we have gathered so far are now connected directly into the Movie Poster Data Base. This has been an exhaustive project and will continue to be updated as we get new NSS numbers.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the many contributors whose help has been invaluable in gathering these numbers. If you have numbers you would like to submit, please send them to us. We will be happy to add your name to our list of contributors.

ANNOUNCING ....
LAMP DEALERS MARKET

We are very excited to announce the new LAMP Dealers Market ("LDM")- a listing of thousands and thousands of items for sale - WITH PRICES. The LDM will make its debut in January, 2007 - just in time to coincide with our 6th anniversary.

As we noted in our post-Cinevent assessment, we learned some very interesting things about the current state of the hobby. First, there are still many movie poster dealers and collectors who are NOT on the internet. (Hard to believe, isn't it!) Second, we found that many of the dealers present at Cinevent still use John Kisch's Price Almanacs, even though they are several years old. These books are used to help dealers locate specific posters for sale and to help determine the market value of movie paper.

The LDM will be presented in a listing format and will include basic info: title, year, description, country, size, condition, price and dealer. It will be available on the web. It will also be published in a no frills bound book form.

HERITAGE AUCTION'S RARE MOVIE POSTER AUCTION SET A NEW WORLD RECORD

Heritage Auction Galleries' latest Signature Auction of Vintage Movie Posters and Memorabilia, held July 12 & 13 in Dallas, Texas, set a new world record for a vintage movie poster auction with $1,578,158 realized for 1,517 lots offered, with1,211 bidders participating, handily topping the previous record of $1,569,057 set by Heritage on November 11 & 12, 2005.

According to Grey Smith, Heritage's Director of Vintage Movie Poster Auctions "The star of the show was the rare and elusive Style B Son of Kong one sheet. From 1933, this poster, with its great image of Kiko, Kong's son, protecting Helen Mack as Robert Armstrong's guns blaze in the foreground, rarely appears for sale, and when it does, it inspires spirited bidding, as it did here on its way to a final price of $69,000."

SUSIE'S CORNER HURRICANE KATRINA UPDATE

It has been one year since our lives were drastically changed by Hurricane Katrina. We have faced many personal battles, but....... we're still here. We will continue to persevere and look forward to improvements on the horizon.
