CARDS (SHELLS)
Promo
Cards (or shells as they are referred to by the studios) are sent
out by the studios to theatres and advertising agencies to be used
to promote the film in various ways. The promo cards normally have
either the same picture as the one sheet or a stock studio's logo
on the front. The back side can be sent down blank for local use
in whatever promotion, from discount coupons, postcards, advertising
in co-op with other local companies, or as hand outs like heralds
of old were used. Normally when used as heralds, the cards come
from the studio with movie promo info on the back (such as in the
movie Seven - see sample).
