DONALD L. VELDE COMPANY

During the era of National Screen Service ("NSS") dominance, NSS controlled about 85 percent of the movie paper. However, there were still other options available to movie exhibitors. In addition to acquiring their advertising supplies directly from the studios, theatre managers could acquire what they needed from other distribution companies. One of these distribution companies was the Donald L. Velde Company.

Donald L. Velde Company lasted the longest, finally closing their doors in 2001. They mainly distributed movie paper for the eastern part of the United States. With their home office in New York, they had exhanges in Atlanta, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Chicago, Jacksonville, Washington, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Albany, New Haven, Boston, Philadelphia and Minneapolis.
