Even though National
Screen Service had control of the distribution of all movie posters
for all the major studios from the 40s until the early 80s, most major
studios used a different type of distribution for the military. This distribution
had to handle the control of the shipments of movies and posters to the
different military bases all around the world.
To cut down on the expenses, studios
had different posters printed. These "military" issue posters normally
featured the same major artwork, but they are usually printed in duotone
(only in 2 colors) with the NSS numbers and
tags missing.
These ARE original posters but because
of their lack of color and markings, they are not as popular as the regular
NSS issues.
