History
The parish was founded from parts of St. Landry Parish in 1887 after an election to determine the parish seat, ending when Crowley beat Rayne and Prairie Hayes.

 

1984

Limner, The - Dir: Hank. Drama produced by the University of New Orleans and filmed in the rice fields of Crowley.

2000

Rhythm 'n' Bayous: Road Map to Louisiana Music - Dir: Mugge; Cast:  Jones, Ledet. Music documentary filmed in Baton Rouge, Eunice, Lafayette, Monroe, New Orleans, Shreveport, Ville Platte and Winnsboro.

2006

Oath of Desormeau - Dir: Ramsey; Cast: Attebury, Arnold. Drama partially filmed in Mermentau.

2008

Laissez les bon temps rouler! - Dir: Bordogna; Cast: Voinche. Documentary of Cajun Mardi Gras filmed in Eunice, Lafayette, Mamou, St. Martinville, and Scott.

2009

Wolvesbayne - Dir: Furst; Cast: London, Romano. Made for TV fantasy horror filmed in Baton Rouge, Crowley and Lafayette.

2017

Battlefield: Home: Breaking the Silence - Dir: Holsapple; war documentary drama about the emotional and physical problems of a returning Vietnam Vet. Partially filmed at Rayville, Duson, Alexandria, Baton Rouge and Tulane University in New Orleans.
