History
Jefferson Parish was named in honor of U. S. President Thomas Jefferson of Virginia
when the parish was established by the Louisiana Legislature on February 11, 1825,
a year before Jefferson died.

 

1934

Lazy River - Dir: Seitz; Cast: Parker, Young.  Romantic drama with some scenes filmed in Golden Meadow and the shrimp camps of Lake Barataria.

1955

Pete Kelly’s Blues - Dir: Webb; Cast: Webb, Leigh.  Crime drama with some scenes filmed at the Fleming Plantation in Lafitte.

1957

Bayou - Dir: Daniels; Cast: Graves, Milan. Drama filmed in New Orleans, Lafitte and Barataria Bay.  World premiere in New Orleans May 30, 1957. Rereleased in 1962 as Poor White Trash with additional sex scenes added.

1962

Wacky World of Dr. Morgus, The - Dir: Haig; Cast: Noel, Barton. Comedy horror filmed in New Orleans and Kenner.

1966

Hurricane Named Betsy - Dir: Cuchiara. Narrator: Fred Collins. A documentary on Hurricane Betsy presented by Department of Defense - Office of Civil Defense partially filmed in New Orleans, Grand Isle, Baton Rouge, St. Bernard, and Plaquemine.

1970

Family, The - Dir: Sollima; Cast: Bronson, Ireland. Crime drama filmed in New Orleans and Kenner.

1973

Live and Let Die - Dir: Hamilton; Cast: Moore, Seymour.  Action adventure filmed throughout Louisiana, including:  Baldwin Estate, Southern Yacht Club, New Orleans, Treadway Estates and Irish Bayou-Slidell, Lake Pontchartrain, Kenner, and Phoenix.

Beyond, The (a/k/a) 7 Doors of Death, 1983 - Dir: Fulci; Cast: MacColl, Warbeck. Italian horror partially filmed in Lake Charles, Metairie, Monroe and New Orleans.
