History
St. James is one of the state's nineteen original parishes,
created by act of the territorial legislature, March 31, 1807. Named for Saint James

 

1964

Hush…Hush, Sweet Charlotte (a/k/a) What Ever Happened to Cousin Charlotte - Dir:  Aldrich; Cast:  Davis, de Havilland.  Horror filmed partially at Houmas House Plantation in Burnside for interior shots. Exterior shots were done at Oak Alley Plantation and Baton Rouge.

1983

Dixie: Changing Habits - Dir: Englund; Cast: Pleshette, Leachman.  Made for TV comedy drama in New Orleans.

1985

Long, Hot Summer - Dir: Cooper; Cast: Johnson, Robards. Romantic drama filmed partially at Ashland-Belle Helene Plantation in Geismer, Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie, Myrtles Plantation in St. Francisville, Burnside, Baton Rouge and Thibodaux.

1991

Grand Isle - Dir: Lambert; Cast: McGillis, Pasdar. Drama filmed partially in New Orleans, St. Joseph Plantation and Vacherie.

1994

Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles - Dir: Jordan; Cast:  Cruise, Pitt. Drama fantasy partially filmed in Destrehan, New Orleans, New Sarpy, Laurel Valley Plantation, Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie and Shreveport.  

1995

Something to Talk About (a/k/a) Game of Love - Dir: Hallstrom; Cast: Roberts, Quaid. Romantic comedy drama with some scenes filmed at Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie.

1998

Primary Colors - Dir: Nichols; Cast: Travolta, Thompson. Comedy drama filmed partially at Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie and New Orleans.

1999

People vs. Shintech - Dir: Valance. Narrator: Glover. Documentary filmed in Convent.

2005

Skeleton Key, The - Dir: Softley; Cast: Hudson, Rowlands. Drama horror mystery filmed partially in Bayou Gauche, New Orleans and the Felicity Plantation in Vacherie.

2006

Back to the Blue Print - documentary episode for History Channel series aired 4/15/2006 on rebuilding Laura Plantation.

Stay Alive - Dir: Bell; Cast: Foster, Muniz. Horror thriller filmed in Jefferson Parish, Kenner, including the Esplanade Mall, New Orleans, Oak Alley Plantation and St. Bernard Parish.

2007

Reconstructing Creole - Dir: Block; Cast: Barnes. Documentary on the Laura Plantation filmed in Vacherie.

2009

Midnight Bayou - Dir: Hemecker; Cast: O’Connell, Stamile. Made for TV drama mystery romance filmed at Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie and New Orleans.

2012

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - Dir: Bekmambetov; Cast: Walker Sewell. Action fantasy horror filmed in New Orleans French Quarter, Covington and Vacherie at the Oak Alley Plantation.

Woodshed, The - Dir: Amond; Cast: Leigh, Burke. Horror short filmed in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Vacherie.

2013

12 Years a Slave - Dir: McQueen; Cast: Ejiofor, Williams. Historical drama filmed at Magnolia Lane Plantation in Bridge City, Felicity Plantation in Vacherie, Magnolia Plantation in Schriever, Bocage Plantation in Darrow, St. Joseph Plantation, Destrehan, and in New Orleans in the French Quarter, Audubon Park, Columns Hote, and Urbania.

2014

Old South, New South - Dir: Leva; Cast: Berendt, Byrd. Short filmed in Vacherie at Oak Alley Plantation.

2015

American Ultra - Dir: Nourizadeh; Cast: Stewart, Goggins. Action comedy filmed in New Orleans, Lutcher, Gramercy, Raceland, Houma, Norco, Kenner, Metairie, Hammond, Covington, Harahan and St. James Parish.

2017

Mudbound - Dir: Rees; Cast: Clarke, Mulligan. War drama partially filmed in St. James Parish at Lutcher, Vacherie, and the Felicite and St. Joseph plantations.
