St. Martin Parish
Breaux Bridge, Cecilia, Henderson, Parks, Pine Alley Plantation, St. Martinville (Parish Seat), Stephensville

Named for St. Martin. The parish is split into two noncontiguous parts because of a surveying error dating to 1868, when Iberia Parish was created by the Louisiana Legislature.
St. Martin has the highest percentage of French-speaking residents
of any county or parish in the United States.



Tarzan of the Apes - National Film Corp. of America. Dir:  Sidney; Cast: Lincoln, Markey.  Action adventure; jungle scenes filmed in Morgan City.

Romance of Tarzan - National Film Corp. of America. Dir: Lucas. Was NOT shot here but the opening sequence is from Tarzan of the Apes which was.


White Rose - United Artists. Dir: Griffith; Cast: Marsh, Dempster. Filmed at Shadows-on-the-Teche Plantation with additional scenes filmed in Bayou Teche, Franklin, New Iberia and St. Martinsville.


Evangeline - United Artists. Dir: Carewe; Cast: Del Rio; Drew. Drama partially filmed at Lake Catahoula and St. Martinville.


Louisiana Hussy, The - Dir: Sholem; Cast: Peterson, Coe. Drama filmed and set in Louisiana New Orleans and surrounding bayou country. Filmed at the Idlewild Plantation and the Gaughman home in Patterson and around Morgan City at the cemetery, J. B. Fuselier home and the levee area called “the Pit.”


Easy Rider - Dir:  Hopper; Cast:  Fonda, Nicholson.  Drama partially filmed in Louisiana. Filming locations included NewOrleans, including the French Quarter at Mardi Gras and the St. Louis Cemetery; the Long-Allen Bridge over the Atchafalaya River from Berwick to Morgan City; East Main Street of Garden City; West Main Street in Franklin; Krotz Springs, Lafayette, and Morganza. 


Belizaire the Cajun - Dir: Pitre; Cast: Assante, Youngs. Romantic drama filmed in Cecilia, Henderson, Pine Alley Plantation and Lafayette.


Fire Next Time, The - Dir: McLoughlin; Cast: Nelson, Bedelia. Made for TV adventure sci-fi partially filmed in Berwick, Morgan City, New Orleans and Stephensville.


Hitchhiker - Dir: Bourque; Cast: Martin, Melancon. Short drama filmed in Broussard and Cade.

Neverthought - Dir: Bourque; Cast: Sanders, Sanders. Short sci/fi filmed in Broussard, Cade, Lafayette and New Iberia.


All the King's Men - Dir: Zaillian; Cast: Penn, Law. Drama thriller set in the 1950’s Louisiana and filmed  at the Albania Plantation in  Jeanerette, Donaldson, the fairgrounds in Livingston, Morgan City, New Orleans and the State Capitol in Baton Rouge.

Deja Vu - Dir: Scott; Cast: Washington, Caviezel. Action sci-fi thriller set in New Orleans and partially filmed in Four Mile Bayou, Morgan City and New Orleans.


Serious Business of Happiness - Dir: Kurnarsky; Cast: Mulvihill, Tolle.  Documentary drama partially filmed in Morgan City and New Orleans, including the French Quarter.


Curious Case of Benjamin Button - Dir: Fincher; Cast: Pitt, Blanchett.  Drama fantasy mystery set in New Orleans and filmed partially in Donaldsonville, Laplace, Mandeville, Morgan City and New Orleans.

Laissez les bon temps rouler! - Dir: Bordogna; Cast: Voinche. Documentary of Cajun Mardi Gras filmed in Eunice, Lafayette, Mamou, St. Martinville, and Scott.

Yellow Handkerchief - Dir: Prasad; Cast: Hurt, Bello. Drama romance set in a backwater Louisiana town and filmed in Morgan City, Covington and New Orleans.


In the Electric Mist - Dir: Tavernier; Cast: Jones, Goodman.  Crime drama mystery set in post-Katrina New Orleans and filmed in Albania Plantation in Jeanerette, Catahoula, Charenton, New Iberia, New Orleans and St. Martinville.   


Rig, The - Dir: Atencio; Cast: D’Laine, LaFleur. Action horror sci-fi filmed in Morgan City. 


Swamp Shark - Dir: Furst; Cast: Swanson, Sweeney. TV movie filmed in Henderson and Lafayette.


On the Road - Dir: Salles; Cast: Riley, Stewart. Drama partially filmed in New Orleans, Amite, and Morgan City.


Dickie Landry: New York Stories - Dir: Denholm. Short biography of Dickie Landry - Photographer, Artist, Saxophonist and Farmer filmed in Lafayette and Breaux Bridge.

Search for Evangeline - Dir: Shbib; Documentary on the first feature film made in Canada in 1913 based on the Longfellow poem and a search for any information remaining partially filmed in St. Martinville for release in Canada.


Bixby - Dir: Siddiqui; Cast: Biglane, Pierret. Short drama filmed in Lafayette, Opelousas, Breaux Bridge, Sunset and Scott.


Finding Cajun - Dir: Rabalais. Documentary on the evolution of the Cajun culture partially filmed in Lafayette, St. Martinville and New Iberia.

You Might Be the Killer - Dir: Simmons; Cast: Kranz, Hannigan. Comedy horror TV movie filmed in Lafayette and Breaux Bridge.
