History
Terrebonne Parish was formed in 1822 from part of Lafourche Parish.
The name "Terrebonne" means "good earth" in French.

 

1913

Octoroon - Kalem. Dir:  Olcott; Cast:  Coombs, Courtot; Rel: Dec 1, 1913. Filmed in Louisiana and set on a Terrebonne plantation

1934

Lazy River - Dir: Seitz; Cast: Parker, Young.  Romantic drama with some scenes filmed in Golden Meadow and the shrimp camps of Lake Barataria.

1985

French Quarter Undercover - Dir: Catalanotto, Poole; Cast: Parks, Holliday.  Action crime drama set in New Orleans and partially filmed in Houma and New Orleans.

Terror in the Swamp a/k/a Nutriaman: The Copasaw Creature - Dir:  Catalanotto, Folse; Cast: Barker, Bush. Horror/Sci-fi filmed in Houma.

1987

Gathering of Old Men, A - Dir:  Schlondorff; Cast:  Gossett Jr., Widmark.   Made for TV drama filmed in Laurel Valley, Thibodaux and Houma, and set in a Louisiana sugarcane plantation.

Three on a Match - Dir: Bellisario; Cast: Adams, Bellany.  Made for TV drama filmed in Laurel Valley Plantation and Houma.

1989

Blaze - Dir: Shelton; Cast: Newman, Davidovich. Earl Long biography drama partially filmed at the state capitol in Baton Rouge, Clinton, Houma, the French Quarter in New Orleans and Winnfield. 

1996

Rescuing the Treasure - Dir: Pitre. Cote Blanche documentary filmed in the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary.

1997

Apostle, The - Dir: Duvall; Cast: Duvall, Fawcett. Drama partially filmed in Des Allemands, Gibson, Houma, Isle of St. Charles, Lafayette and Sunset.

First Love, Last Rites - Dir: Peretz; Cast: Wagner, Ribisi. Romantic drama filmed in Houma.

1999

Crazy in Alabama - Dir: Banderas; Cast: Griffith, Morse. Comedy drama partially filmed in Houma and New Orleans, including Lafitte Blacksmith Shop.

2001

Wings over the Wetlands - Dir: Pitre. Documentary of annual migration of birds filmed in Barataria and Terrebonne.

2007

Flat Daddy, The - Dir: Bourque; Cast: Blanchard, Johnston. Short drama filmed in Houma and New Orleans.

2009

Deadline - Dir: McConville; Cast: Murphy, Birch. Thriller drama horror filmed in Baton Rouge, Houma, New Orleans, Schreiver and Shreveport.

God's Architects - Dir: Godshall. Documentary looks at 5 artist-architects and their creations partially filmed in Chauvin.

2011

Samuel Bleak - Dir: Schuetter; Cast: Murray, David, Unger. Drama filmed in Thibodaux and around Terrebonne and LaFourche parishes

2012

12 Years a Slave - Dir: McQueen; Cast: Ejiofor, Williams. Historical drama filmed at Magnolia Lane Plantation in Bridge City, Felicity Plantation in Vacherie, Magnolia Plantation in Schriever, Bocage Plantation in Darrow, St. Joseph Plantation, Destrehan, and in New Orleans in the French Quarter, Audubon Park, Columns Hote, and Urbania.

Beasts of the Southern Wild - Dir: Zeitlin; Cast: Wallis, Henry. Fantasy drama filmed in Montegut, New Orleans and Terrebonne parish.

2013

Can't Stop the Water - Dir: Ferris, Ferris. Documentary about the coastal erosion which is eliminating the Isle de Jean Charles, which is the ancestrial grounds of the Biloxi-Chitamacha-Choctaw Indians filmed on the Isle de Jean Charles.

Lee Daniels' The Butler - Dir: Daniels; Cast: Whitaker, Winfrey. Biography drama filmed at Houma, Raceland, Lafourche Parish and New Orleans at the Second Line Stages.

2015

American Ultra - Dir: Nourizadeh; Cast: Stewart, Goggins. Action comedy filmed in New Orleans, Lutcher, Gramercy, Raceland, Houma, Norco, Kenner, Metairie, Hammond, Covington, Harahan and St. James Parish.

Does God Hear Robots Pray? - Dir: Pfeil; Cast: Martinez, Banks. Short drama filmed in New Orleans and Houma.

My Way - Dir: James; Cast: Beaudry, Gilula. Short drama filmed in Houma.
