Porky Pig debuted in the Merry
Melodies release of 'I Haven't Got a Hat' in 1935. It was directed by Friz
Freleng, animated by Rollin Hamilton and Jack King and Porky was voiced by
Joe Dougherty. The original release was suppose to be a cartoon version of
the Our Gang comedies.
Porky stole the show and with
the addition of 'Tex' Avery to the WB animators, Porky became their number
one star. Mel Blanc took over the voice of Porky in the 1937 release of Porky's
Duck Hunt and continued as Porky's voice until his death in 1989.
Unfortunately, posters for Porky
Pig were issued as Stock
and Semi Stock
posters and NOT individually made posters . I have marked when the stock posters
were issued. I have divided the Warner Brothers Stock posters into 2 groups
of Looney
Tunes Stock Posters and Merry
Melodies Stock Posters. Porky is featured on both groups.
Here is Porky's filmography
