MARDI GRAS IN
SUSIE'S CORNER
We are now in the heart of Mardi Gras season down here in the "Big
Easy." Unfortunately, we are so busy that we have only had
time to attend one parade -- which has become a family tradition
for my daughter and her husband. I will be posting some photos taken
last Sunday. If you're curious, come check it out in Susie's
Corner.
HOBBITS REIGN AS
MARDI GRAS ROYALTY
Two of the largest Mardi Gras Krewes (yes that's how its spelled)
are featuring Hobbit monarchs.
The Krewe of Bacchus, the first "super krewe," has traditionally
named a "celebrity" to reign as their king. This year, Bacchus
XXXVI is none other than our favorite Hobbit Frodo -- Elijah Wood.
If you would like to learn more Elijah's ride through New Orleans
this Sunday or about this great krewe and the celebrities that have
reigned through the years, check out the official Krewe
of Bacchus website.
On
Monday (Lundi Gras), Dominic Monaghan aka Meriadoc "Merry"
Brandybuck will be riding as Celebrity Monarch of the Krewe
of Orpheus. This is the newest and most exciting krewe to join
the New Orleans revelry in recent years. It was founded in 1993 by
jazz musician and entertainer Harry Connick Jr., a New Orleans native.
