Instead of being controlled by the studio, Australian
artists seemed to be more influenced by the films distributors or the printers.
This creates a completely different philosophy to the artwork. Combine this
with the size of the daybill, which is the primary advertising piece, and
it quite often creates some unusual results. We
do see some signs of studio influence on the distributors. You'll notice
that a lot of the posters are rearranged versions of the studio released
posters.
Some artist were contracted by the distributors, but
the majority were done by the printers, which quite often would maintain
inhouse artwork capabilities.
Unfortunately, very few Australian artists signed their
work. Below we have listed artists that we have found that have worked in
house and have individual listings when we can find any type of signature.
