In the past, when we were asked about poster prices,
we would just send the person asking to a variety of other places
that provided prices. Some were free and some were by membership.
We didn't have a problem with memberships because we understand
all the hard work involved with gathering data and maintaining
it. We felt that there was plenty of room in the hobby for all,
and we had plenty to do with the development of our histories,
artists, archive, articles to keep us busy for a lifetime.
Unfortunately, as the hobby changes, as all hobbies do,
we have become very uncomfortable with a lot of the information
being provided. For this reason, we have decided to provide prices
as an additional service for collectors.
We have noticed that a lot of people asking for prices
seemed to be unfamiliar with how to use a price guide. So we have
started with an article on 'How
to Use a Price Guide'.
We have this article on the top of each movie title page
in our database (MPDB).
As a first step, we have now linked to Bruce Hershenson's
FREE Poster Sales Results...... It is located at the top of EACH
movie title page
And to make it even EASIER.....
When you are on a particular movie title in our database.....
(i.e. Jaws), when you click on the link to Bruces' prices, we
have programmed it to automatically sort his prices and bring
up any on THAT title.. (in other words, all the Jaws prices).
We know that a wider variety of prices from different
sources is needed to make a good GUIDE to poster values, but since
Bruce has over 200,000 prices already compiled, we feel that this
is an EXCELLENT first step.
We are in the process of adding on more sources, such
as Heritage Auction, which hopefully will be online very soon.
